A review of a hand cream designed to protect older skin
Does beauty have an age limit? Not according to the Dove pro-age campaing, it doesn’t. Our hands suffer as we grow older, but Dove Pro-Age Hand Cream claims to be part of the solution. It has been designed for “improved surface cell turnover”, to provide nourishment to the skin, and has UVB sun protection built-in.
I brought this product after a recommendation from a friend who I had told about my dermatitis, a condition that I have suffered from for many years. Although sceptical, I purchased my maroon packaged tube of Dove Pro-Age Hand Cream and started using it every day, especially after my hands had been in water.
My first impression was favourable; the hand cream has a nice rich creamy texture and a very fragrant smell that makes your hands smell nice. The tube has a flip top lid for easy opening and is a handy small size that will fit in your handbag. But most importantly, and to my astonishment, after a few days the dermatitis disappeared from my hands and has not returned since, in which time I have continued using this hand cream regularly.
How does it work? The key active ingredients, according to Dove, the Pro-Age Hand Cream are:
- AHA solutions (4%) eliminate dead skin cells and reduce the appearance of age spots and wrinkles
- Glycerin (2%) to add hydrating nourishment and improve surface cell turnover
- Olive Oil (1%) to provide additional nutrients to your skin
- SPF 5 to help protect the skin from sun damage.
Well I can’t say which of those it was that cured my dermatitis, but having got more out of this product than I could have expected, I honestly cannot find fault with it – except sometimes I wish there was more in the tube. Dove Pro-Age Hand Cream must count as one of the best skin care product purchases I have ever made!
